Transitional Apartments
This is a voluntary Transition to Independent/Interdependent Living Program. This program will build on the skills youth currently have and assist them in becoming successful as they continue on with their life’s journey. Pathways firmly believes that youth deserve the opportunity to live in a respectful, peaceful, and caring environment where they can get the support they need. And that is what they will get here!
While living here youth will have access to an on-site Live-in Mentor. This person is here to support them with goal setting and achievement, problem solving and overall to help them accomplish success. Pathways also has several other programs to participate in including leisure and recreation, health and fitness, cooking, skills upgrading, employment, and many more.
This apartment is similar to already living independently. There are expectations and rules to be followed just like there would be if they were renting somewhere else. Except here, the rent is lower than most other places and they have access to resources and support.
Youth are able to live here for a period not exceeding 364 days or when their goals for independent/ interdependent living are accomplished (whichever comes first) and they have determined that they are ready to move out.
What’s in it for youth . . .
- Youth will be able to gain the skills they need to live independently/interdependently and support is available to help them achieve goals.
- Cheaper rent ($325/month) compared to most other places in York Region! So youth will have the opportunity to save some money.
- Youth will have their own room with a door lock. Each room comes with a bed and bedding, nightstand, dresser, and closet.
- We have a 3 bedroom unit and a 4 bedroom unit. Each apartment is shared accommodations (kitchen, bathroom and common living area).
