Angel Tree Campaign
With support from generous donations and sponsorships, we were able to help make the holidays special for 28 youth and 46 families!
Every holiday season Pathways embarks on our annual Angel Tree Campaign providing support to clients in need during the holidays. The holidays at Pathways are very busy time of year, as our dedicated team of volunteers, sponsors, staff and donors work to ensure the children, youth and families in our care are gifted with the ability to celebrate the season where not financially possible always.
Below is a list of ways in which you, your family or your organization can support:
Monetary Donation – Make a financial gift to Pathways. A $50.00 donation allows us to provide (10) meals to youth or a $100.00 donation allows us to provide (1) hour of counselling to a youth in crisis. Click here to donate online or download a copy of “Ways to make a Difference” along with a donation form.
Adopt a Youth or Family – Help provide gifts for the season by choosing to adopt a client or family and sponsor their holiday wish list.
Food Drive – Keeping all of our children, youth and families fed is a big job and even bigger expense. Easy prepped, non perishable meals make the difference (canned vegetables, tuna, macaroni and cheese, pasta etc.)
Toiletry Drive – Daily necessities that many of us take for granted such as; shampoo, soap, deodorant, socks & underwear (men’s & women’s & children’s sizes – new in packages)
Your donation will help make this holiday season special
for the youth and families in our care.
We look forward to your support and participation in becoming a Pathways Angel this year. If you have any questions or would like to adopt a youth or family, please call Reception at 905-475-6694 extension 328.
Frequently Asked Questions
QHow do I participate?
ABy emailing kemayla.fleming@pathwaysyorkregion.org with your intention to make a financial donation, adopt a youth or family to fulfill their wish list or by organizing a food or toiletry drive. You will then be sent via email a registration form for the activity you have chosen.
QCan I choose the child, youth or family to adopt?
AAfter completing your registration form, the program coordinator will contact you with information on the youth or family you have been matched with. The youth and families that benefit from this program are our clients and have been screened and determined to have the greatest needs in the community.
QHow do I know what to purchase?
AOur adoptable youth and families create a wish list of items that would be beneficial to them. We then provide the “wish list” to the donor who can select items to purchase from the list. Alternatively, a great way to meet their needs is to purchase gift cards from retailers (Canadian Tire, Shoppers, grocery) that allows the youth or families to purchase the items themselves. The purchasing is left to the discretion of the donor.
QWhere do I deliver my gifts?
AWhen you receive the wish list you will also receive the delivery location. All items need to be delivered on or before December 16th. If you are unable to deliver, please let us know right away so we can try and make arrangements with some of our wonderful volunteers.
QDo I wrap the gifts?
AWe request that all gifts arrive unwrapped. If you would like to donate the wrapping paper, we will have our staff wrap the items for youth (as they live with us in our programs) and we will include it when delivering the items to the families so they are able to participate in the giving for their children.
QCan I meet the child, youth or family that I am adopting?
AMany donors request to meet the child, youth or family they are purchasing for. Due to the necessity for confidentiality and privacy laws, this is not possible.
QAre my gifts eligible for tax receipts?
AAll financial donations are eligible for an official tax receipt. For contributions of gift certificates and gifts, please submit the original store receipts at the time you drop off your gifts. Charitable gift receipts will be issued for the value of the goods contributed, less HST as Revenue Canada does not allow for the receipting of taxes paid.
